Ibn Abī Dhiʾb, Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān (d. 158/775). A major narrator from the second generation of Muslims and a scholar in his own right. A contemporary of the Imam Mālik b. Anas, he compiled his own collection of ḥadīth and was an authoritative source of legal opinions in Medina. He died and was buried in Kufa. Ibn Abī al-Jaʿd, Sālim (d. 99–101/717–19).
